What ARE the Dragonfly AND FIREFLY day campS?
The DRAGONFLY Day Camp and FIREFLY Day Camp are both day camp programs offered by Camp Cale for kids who aren’t quite ready for overnight stays but still want to enjoy the camp experience.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
DRAGONFLY Day Camp
Age Group: 6–8 years old - Your child must have COMPLETED kindergarten and be 6 years old by June 1st, 2026 in order to attend our Dragonfly Day Camp week.
Purpose: Introduces younger campers to Camp Cale in a safe, fun, age-appropriate day setting.
Ideal for: Kids not ready for overnight camp but eager to explore camp life.
FIREFLY Day Camp
Age Group: 9–11 years old
Purpose: Designed for slightly older kids to experience Camp Cale’s activities without staying overnight.
Ideal for: Campers who may want to build confidence before transitioning to overnight camps.
Both camps offer a fun and engaging preview of overnight camp, helping kids ease into the camp environment through games, activities, and community — all during the day.
Please note: Our Day Camps do not offer the full residential camp experience. Campers will enjoy exciting daily activities but will return home each evening.

What If my camper has Food Or Other Allergies?
Camp Cale is not an allergen friendly campus. All food allergies must be fully self-managed and cannot be life-threatening. We are unable to accommodate food allergies or intolerances that require changes in meal preparation. This means your camper will need to select meals that do not contain their allergens from the meal line. If your camper has a food allergy, please contact Camp Cale staff at 252-264-2513 or info@campcale.com to determine if our camp is a good fit.
If your camper has any non-food related allergies, please give us a call to discuss their needs. We'll be happy to go over what we can and cannot accommodate to ensure your camper has a safe and enjoyable experience.
What is free time?
Free time is a structured and supervised part of the day where campers can choose from a variety of fun activities. Campers may take part in organized options or spend time in our commons area, which includes:
